1 Measurement from tripod fulcrum to camera. Depending upon specific camera, actual length to lens will be slightly longer.
2 Tail length includes weights that extend beyond actual jib tail.
3 Underslung measurements dependent upon tripod height and actual camera.
4 Riser size depends on swing of arm - given measurements are for 180 degree swing. Using conventional 4' x 8' riser sections will result in larger footprint. If the jib is to be placed on a platform/riser, it must support at least 1500lbs.
5 If a security barricade is to be constructed around the jib arm: an 11ft x 11ft barricade is advised for STANDARD mode (6ft reach) thru GIANT mode (12ft reach); a 20ft x 20ft barricade is advised for GIANT PLUS mode (15ft reach) thru SUPER mode (18ft reach); 30ft x 30ft barricade for SUPER 21 (21ft reach); 35ft x 35ft barricade for SUPER PLUS (24ft reach); 50ft x 50ft barricade for EXTREME (30ft reach); and 60ft x 60ft barricade for MEGA (40ft reach). A security barricade is strongly advised at most venues where the crowd is near the jib. These barricades will make the shot possible for the jib operator and will add protection to the jib operator and the jib.

Please contact us if you have any questions about jib placement.  We have placed our jibs in smaller locations, such as opera box seats.  Location scouts are available.

NEW: 40 FT MEGA is now offered with one of our Jimmy Jib Triangle Arms

40 ft. MEGA

Cinematic Experience Inc. is proud to announce owning the 40 ft. "MEGA" addition to our Jimmy Jib Triangle. The 40 ft. "MEGA" is by request only, and like the 30 ft. EXTREME, it requires our company to bring additional labor (Jib Technician / Assistant) for this job due to the massive size of the arm. Similar to the 30 ft. "EXTREME", the 40 ft. "MEGA" does incur an additional cost when requested.

*NOTE: In regards to the 40 ft. "MEGA”: It is important to note that the camera (including any accessories mounted to it) must NOT weight more then 25 lb. This is only for the 40 ft. "MEGA" size.

Please remember, for the 30ft "EXTREME" and the 40 ft. "MEGA" jib: if placed on a platform / riser, that platform must support at least 2000 lb. / 1 TON. That platform should be cross-braced to prevent swaying when the jib arm swings.

The platform is the responsibility of the lessee / client and must be inspected and approved by the lessee / client in order for Cinematic Experience, Inc. to proceed with the assembly of the Jimmy Jib Triangle Arm.

JIB RATES

Please email mark@marksofil.com for a rate card.
PLEASE NOTE: Some jobs may require Cinematic Experience, Inc. to provide a jib assist/utility.

SETUP

Set up time for the Jimmy Jib Triangle usually takes about 2 hours, depending on the load in. We recommend allowing at least 2.5 to 3 hours for set up because of basic production logistics (unloading, parking, site survey) Please note that this is an estimated time and can be either shorter or longer based on jib size, optional jib accessories (120 degree Dutch head), and jib placement (roofs and auditorium balconies might require some more time). If the 40 ft. MEGA is to be used, please allow for more setup time. The Jimmy Jib Triangle can support a camera, with all its accessories, weighing up to 50 lb. with the exception of the 40 ft. MEGA in which the camera (and all its accessories) should not weight more then 25 lb.

JIB TRANSPORT

Cinematic Experience, Inc. transports the jib in a Chevy Cargo Astro or Express Van (6 foot 5 inches to 7 feet high) This vehicle is to be considered a production vehicle and all parking must be provided/paid for at the venue. If possible, it is strongly advised to keep the jib vehicle parked near or at the load in/out area or the production TV track as this will save time in set up and load out.

JIB ASSIST / TECHNICIAN

Some jobs MAY require Cinematic Experience, Inc. to provide its own jib assist/utility for set up/load out days or the whole show. This all depends on the type of job at hand.

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

For a small additional cost, Cinematic Experience, Inc. offers you the following optional equipment for our Jimmy Jib Triangle:

  • DUTCH HEAD (120 Degree)
  • 30 FT EXTREME
  • 40 FT MEGA

MULTI-CAM SWITCHED SHOWS

Depending on your camera and the broadcast truck used for your show / event, at least 50 ft. of TRIAX, SMPTE Fiber Optic or other CCU cable should be placed at the base of the jib. This also includes any audio cable for the camera PL system

  • AC POWER - Power needs to be provided for the jib. The Jimmy Jib Triangle needs at least 50 ft. of 15A (120V) AC Power to be placed at the base of the jib. This needs to be a safely grounded and dedicated line for the JIB and its components, sharing this power with a lighting dimmer board or other electronics could effect camera transmission and jib electronics. Therefore, please provide a direct power line (50 foot cable of 15 or 20 amp (120 V) to the jib as our jib system should not be plugged into anything sharing this line (as in a power strip that has other equipment plugged into it)
  • Cinematic Experience, Inc. cannot be held liable for any disruption or corruption to any electronic systems (whether it be equipment belonging to Cinematic Experience, Inc. or 3rd party equipment.) that could be caused by a faulty AC line.

LENSES

For the Jimmy Jib we provide lens control for Canon and Fujinon ENG/EFP style lenses. Lens controls for other lenses, such as Nikon or Angenieux ENG / EFP lenses can be provided, but may incur an additional fee. Film Lenses require film style zoom and focus servos in addition to a film styled zoom control (and separate follow focus control unit.) This needs to be provided by your camera vendor or your camera assistant. The film style controls used to operate the film style servos either needs to be wireless or a minimum 50-foot cable needs to be provided by your camera vendor or AC for each control. It is strongly suggested that your AC reaches out to us if you have this type of shoot. We recommend a wide angle zoom thru lens for your production, making our jib arm moves look even more dynamic.

PROGRAM VIDEO

Program Video can either be pulled from the back of the camera, or in some cases, it may need to be run directly from the truck or a nearby I/O Panel. We can accept Program Video in either SD or HD feed. This can easily be determined on site between the truck engineers and us.

If a program video line must be run from another source other then the camera, please provide a 50 ft. of cable needs to be placed at the base of the jib.

COMMUNICATIONS: HEADSET / CAMERA PL

If possible, a double muff headset is requested. For communication an RTS box or Wireless system is required since the camera is physically far away from the operator. If an RTS box is to be used, 50 ft. of XLR cable needs to be placed at the base of the jib.

PLATFORM/RISER

If the jib is to be placed on a platform/riser, that platform must support at least 1500 lb. If you can park a car on it, it's a safe platform. This platform should be cross-braced to prevent swaying when the jib arm swings.

** For the 30ft "EXTREME" and the 40 ft. "MEGA" jib: if placed on a platform / riser, that platform must support at least 2000 lb. / 1 TON. **

The platform is the responsibility of the lessee / client and must be inspected and approved by the lessee / client in order for Cinematic Experience, Inc. to proceed with the assembly of the Jimmy Jib Triangle Arm.

DECKING

If the jib is to be placed on grass, sand or dirt and a heavily cross braced platform will not be provided for the jib, the jib will still need a solid decking to be provided by the client. We recommend at least two 4ft x 8ft pieces of heavy plywood or other sturdy decking for the jib base to rest on. Please contact us if you have any questions in regards to this.

SECURITY BARRICADE

If a security barricade is to be constructed around the jib arm: an 11ft x 11ft barricade is advised for STANDARD mode (6ft reach) thru GIANT mode (12ft reach); a 20ft x 20ft barricade is advised for GIANT PLUS mode (15ft reach) thru SUPER mode (18ft reach); 30ft x 30ft barricade for SUPER 21 (21ft reach); 35ft x 35ft barricade for SUPER PLUS (24ft reach); 50ft x 50ft barricade for EXTREME (30ft reach); and 60ft x 60ft barricade for MEGA (40ft reach).

A security barricade is strongly advised at most venues where the crowd is near the jib. These barricades will make the shot possible for the jib camera operator and will add protection to the jib operator and the jib. Cinematic Experience, Inc. knows that taking up too much real estate at an event is a concern for your production company, and will keep this in mind. However, please note that further restrictions in security barricade dimensions can affect the length of the jib arm. Cinematic Experience, Inc. advises and requests (if possible) the presence of at least one security guard (with the ability to radio for backup) at most major events.

TELEPROMPTER

If your production will be utilizing a teleprompter, please inform your teleprompter crew that they should carry a variety of sized cables. We recommend that any cables running up the jib arm to the teleprompter/camera should be at least 75ft to 100 ft. in length. This will cover the run from the camera, down the arm and to the teleprompter workstation, which must be placed away from the jib operator’s swing radius. Your teleprompter crew MUST provide any cables needed for the teleprompter.

The successful mounting of the teleprompter to the camera is the responsibility of your teleprompter crew; therefore, they will have to provide all necessary components (from cabling to mounting accessories) to make that happen. We recommend your teleprompter person reach out to us if they have any questions about our Jimmy Jib Triangle Arm.

ENG/EFP SHOOTS ONLY

AC POWER or DC POWER? (ENG/EFP SHOOTS ONLY)

AC power is good to have around, however, Cinematic Experience, Inc. has the ability to run the Jimmy Jib Triangle and our monitor(s) off battery power for the day. This option of powering the jib via battery is ONLY TO BE USED FOR ENG/EFP SHOOTS, NOT MULTI-CAM SWITCHED SHOOTS. Multiple days ENG/EFP shoots will require over night charging. Cinematic Experience, Inc. will NOT be able to provide power for your camera or audio mixer, only the jib and its color monitor. Please note, providing AC power for the jib will always still be the best option.

AUDIO TO THE JIB CAMERA (ENG/EFP SHOOTS ONLY)

If your shoot plans on running audio to the camera on the jib, at least 75ft of XLR cable for EACH channel (to be placed at the base of the jib) will need to be provided by your audio department. Or wireless audio components are recommended. Please note that your audio personnel will NOT be able to do direct audio monitoring WHILE RECORDING unless he/she has at least 75 ft. to100 ft. of head phone cable to run up the jib arm and to the camera.

TELEPROMPTER

If your production will be utilizing a teleprompter, please inform your teleprompter crew that they should carry a variety of sized cables. We recommend that any cables running up the jib arm to the teleprompter/camera should be at least 75ft to 100 ft in length. This will cover the run from the camera, down the arm and to the teleprompter work station, which must be placed away from the jib operator's swing radius. Any cables needed for the teleprompter MUST be provided by your teleprompter crew. The successful mounting of the teleprompter to the camera is the responsibility of your teleprompter crew, therefore, they will have to provide all necessary components (from cabling to mounting accessories) to make that happen. We recommend your teleprompter person reaches out to us if they have any questions about our Jimmy Jib Triangle Arm.
